The National Veterans Parade website was designed to reflect the gravity and pride associated with the only national parade honoring military veterans, held annually in Washington, D.C.

Our process began with discovery and stakeholder interviews to understand the organization’s mission, audience (veterans, families, sponsors, and the general public), and goals for the site — primarily event awareness, registration, sponsorship, and donations. From there, we developed a content strategy and sitemap that balanced storytelling (the parade’s history and significance) with functional needs like event logistics, route maps, and volunteer sign-up.

On the design side, we created a visual identity that felt patriotic and dignified without leaning on clichés — drawing on a refined color palette, strong typography, and authentic photography of past parades to build emotional resonance. We iterated through wireframes and mockups with the client to ensure the design worked across devices, then moved into development, building a responsive, accessible site with an easy-to-manage CMS so the organization’s team could update event details, sponsor logos, and news year over year.

Our process included:

Discovery & research — stakeholder interviews, competitive review of similar civic/military event sites, and audience analysis
